CRKT K.I.S.S. 5510

CRKT K.I.S.S. 5510 Ed Halligan (Money Clip Style)

The name of this knife is “Keep It Super Simple”. It features a precision blanked blade for smooth operation and exceptional fit.

Like the other K.I.S.S. family folding knives, this model features a two-piece construction. It has a frame lock and a cutting edge that’s protected by a unique design.

A thumb stud is utilized to open the blade. When the blade is rotated fully open, the frame lock will automatically snaps in place, providing a crisp lockup. The handle can be closed using one hand by releasing the lock.

The K.I.S. S. Original’s blade is made from Tanto-inspired materials, which are designed to provide a smooth and resilient fit when the blade is closed. This ensures that the cutting edge stays protected even when exposed to the elements. Both the frame and blade are 420J2 stainless steel, and both have a fine bead-blast finish, making them incredibly durable.

The K.I.S. series’ money clip design allows users to utilize these items in various ways. They can be used as a money clip, a pocket knife, or a key chain.

Following the K.I.S.’s success, various imitations have appeared. These knockoffs do not offer the same level of sophistication and CRKT quality that Ed Halligan brought to the table. As a result, the more people copy his design, the better it looks.

About the Knife Designer

As a noted CRKT collaborator, Ed Halligan is known as Big Daddy K.I.S.S., the second person to do so. After 37 years working as an aircraft technician for Delta Airlines, he started his own company, Halligan Knives, in 1985. He said his background in leather working and scrimshaw inspired his desire to create high-quality stock removal knives.

He was able to receive a Mastersmith rating in 1996 from the American Society of Bladesmiths. He also won a B.R. Hughes Award for his work. Halligan produces various types of knives, including military, folding, and self-defense tools.

Halligan is the creator of the popular K. I.S.S. single-sided knife series, which has been widely copied. He has translated the custom versions into CRKT-made products, which have been very popular among the public and knife enthusiasts. He also teaches knifemaking and bladesmithing techniques at college.
